NINA VOX –Born of Moravian/ Norwegian decent, Nina was raised in a happy family, who taught her how to love life and always find joy in the World.
Nina’s father died tragically when she was three. Nina was raised by her Mother and Grandmother. When she was 8 years old she learned she could sing. It happened one morning when herding a flock of geese, for her Grandmother. The geese were disobedient and in frustration she stood and bellowed so loudly that the geese were halted in their travels, all heads turned and in that moment Nina knew the power of her voice… the geese were mesmerized!
Nina left home at 17 and ended up in rural Australia. It is here that Nina joined a Troup of performers who take her in and it is for ten years she travels the country, singing and dancing with her new Gypsy family.
The world beckoned and Nina travelled extensively through Europe, always returning to Australia the place she loves best. Nina now resides in Sydney again … for the time being.
In 2009 Nina released her debut album, “The Shape of You “ which is a compilation of her favourite songs and the favourite songs of her long-lost Father who was a Jazz Drummer & Trumpeter.
In choosing these Classics Nina says, “…I am having a conversation with my Father… George.”
Other songs included on Nina’s debut album are by Nina’s favourite Songwriter from Sydney, Tony King; a song from Leonard Cohen and two songs from Nina’s favourite American songster, Tom Waits, plus a song from Nina’s favourite Songstress, Nina Simone.
